6 Things You Should Probably Clean More Often

Post Image

We all have our regular cleaning routines — dishes, floors, laundry. But what about the stuff we don’t think about until it’s… kinda gross? Here are 6 everyday things Clean More Often that are sneakily dirty — and why you should give them a little more attention (your health and sanity will thank you).

1. Your Phone 📱

You touch it constantly. You take it everywhere. And studies show it can carry more germs than a toilet seat (ew).

How to clean it:
Use a disinfecting wipe (alcohol-based) or a microfiber cloth dampened with a 70% isopropyl alcohol solution. Clean the screen, buttons, and case at least once a week.

2. Remote Controls 🎮

TV remotes, game controllers, A/C units — everyone touches them, no one cleans them.

How to clean it:
Wipe with a disinfectant wipe or spray a cloth with alcohol-based cleaner and gently wipe all surfaces and in-between buttons. Do this weekly or after someone’s been sick.

3. Light Switches & Door Handles 🚪

They’re small and easy to forget — but touched multiple times a day by multiple hands.

How to clean them:
Use a disinfectant wipe or spray cleaner on a cloth and wipe them down once a week, more often during cold/flu season.

4. Reusable Shopping Bags 🛍

They carry everything from raw meat to dirty produce. When was the last time you washed yours?

How to clean them:
Throw cloth bags in the washing machine. For plastic or insulated bags, wipe down with warm, soapy water. Clean after every few uses.

5. Your Shower Curtain & Liner 🚿

Soap scum and mildew love to build up here, especially at the bottom edge.

How to clean them:
Wash fabric curtains and plastic liners in the washing machine with hot water, vinegar, and a little baking soda. Air dry. Do this every month or two.

6. The Dishwasher (Yes, Really!) 🍽

It’s supposed to clean, but food bits, grease, and hard water deposits can make it stink and underperform.

How to clean it:
Remove the filter and clean it. Then run a cycle with white vinegar (top rack) and follow with baking soda on the bottom. Do this once a month.
